at all year levels, boys can become involved in activities outside the classroom that help them to grow and become marist men. these include:
year 7 outdoor education week
this is a highlight of the intermediate school years. taking place early in term 2, it is a week-long programme of outdoor activities that develop confidence and physical and interpersonal skills. activities include archery, kayaking, sailing, cycling and other activities.
year 9 camp
this week-long adventure held in term 4 is a time when lasting friendships are formed and much fun is had. this is a long-standing tradition at 2022世界杯美洲杯预选赛赛程 , year 9 boys, staff and parents come together at lake karapiro and participate in a wide range of activities on the land and in the water.
year 12 pe snow camp
in term 3, the year 12 physical education students pack their bags and skis/snowboards and head off to ohakune for the annual year 12 physical education snow camp. students look forward to the trip and, historically, it has been regarded as one of the highlights of a student’s time at 2022世界杯美洲杯预选赛赛程 . the students stay at the auckland grammar ski lodge in ohakune and, for three days they ski and snowboard at turoa. attached to the trip are two achievement standards worth a total of six credits.
cultural and educational overseas trips
most years, 2022世界杯美洲杯预选赛赛程 organises an overseas trip for senior students. the aim of these trips is to give students firsthand experience in dealing with the different cultures and languages they have been learning about at school.
students can gain a better understanding of other cultures and of different ways of behaving whilst exploring new countries. trips also initiate a desire to look beneath the surface of things and understand the extent of human history. it is our hope that an educational trip enhances our students' understanding and awareness of different cultures, develops life skills such as managing self and relating to others, and widens students' appreciation of being members of the global village.
